Friendsgiving

Friendsgiving

Need an excuse to get together with your besties and drink wine? (Haha is the Pope Catholic?) Why not host a Friendsgiving!

I think we can all agree that this year has been a challenging one (to put it mildly.) Despite the craziness of 2020 there is still so much to be grateful for and we deserve to celebrate. So grab your nearest and dearest and start planning for a fun, at-home celebration that will leave your heart and your bell full!

Obviously food is the main part of Friendsgiving, but I say keep it simple. Go potluck style, order pizzas or make tamales! Who said ya need a Turkey?

In my opinion, the decor and table itself is just as important as what you’re serving to eat. There’s something so satisfying to me about creating the perfect tablescape. Some basic elements you’ll want to incorporate into your Friendsgiving tablescape are:

  • Basics: Tablecloth/Runner, Napkins, Silverware (or in this case “goldware"), dinner, shapewear, and glasses

  • Decor: Candles, Candle Holders, Seasonal Accessories

  • Flowers/Greenery: Always go with seasonal items - Trader Joe’s is my favorite spot for picking up fresh flowers and greenery

Here are a few of my favorite pieces to transform your table

When designing the tablescape, I always create the centerpiece first. After you have selected your tablecloth and runner, start with your vases. Then place any serveware you may need for dinner on the table to be sure everything fits. Then fill in any empty spaces with candles and seasonal accessories. I love adding candlesticks to create some height on the table.

After you have finished setting the table by laying out your chargers at the place settings and then add your dinnerware, “goldware” and napkins to finish it off.

Now that you have your table set, you are ready to pour yourself a glass of wine, some charcuterie, and maybe even grab a slice of pie before your friends arrive!

Cheers and Happy Friendsgiving!

Oh, and of course Friendsgiving isn’t complete without the perfect outfit. You want to look cute but also comfy to pack away all that food! I feel confident and polished in a simple wrap dress…especially because I can adjust the waist! Add in fall accessories like a pair of booties or a fun hat to dress it up for the season.
